Four headsets added under Siberia line five years after the release of the Siberia v2

Audio accessory maker SteelSeries announced that it is building upon its lineup of successful Siberia headphones, adding four new models under the line. The new models, named under the Siberia v3 and Siberia Prism monikers, come five years after the release of the popular Siberia v2 headset. The next iteration of the Siberia line is set to release this holiday season.

New full tower case features signature brushed aluminum design, tool-less features

Lian Li has announced a new brushed aluminum case in its lineup, adding the full tower PC-V2130 chassis. The new case features support for water cooling, including four positions for radiators 240mm or 280mm in size. The PC-V2130 supports a number of motherboards, including ATX, XL-ATX and Micro-ATX. Up to 11 drives, 2.5 or 3.5-inches in size, can be installed in hard drive bays or on the back of the motherboard tray, with an additional four 2.5-inch drives in a removable bracket. Lian Li's new case uses tool-less design for PCI card mounting, thumbscrews for front plate removal and side panel removal with only two latches. Consumers worried about the size and weight of the case will be happy to know that it includes four wheels for easy movement.

Peripheral maker SteelSeries has made its Sensei RAW gaming mice available for purchase. The pair of peripherals is a step down from its premium gaming mice, lacking some of the customization offered by the 32-bit ARM processor inside the Sensei range, but still contains the same core internals as its high-end counterparts. Although still aimed at gamers, the RAW version is for those looking for a more basic offering that is also cheaper than others in the SteelSeries portfolio.

MSI GT60, GT70 gaming notebooks start at $1,500

MSI has begun US-based shipping for the gaming-oriented GT60 and GT70 notebooks that were introduced at CeBIT at the start of March. Other than size, both have nearly identical hardware components, running Intel's new Ivy Bridge-based 2.3GHz Core i7-3610QM and paired with NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 670M for graphics. The backlit keyboards come from gaming peripheral maker SteelSeries.

Gaming peripherals maker SteelSeries has partnered with Team Fnatic, a professional e-sports team, to offer a co-branded headset and mouse. The SteelSeries 7H Fnatic Limited Edition headset features paired 50mm dynamic drivers and noise isolating ear cushions. The SteelSeries Sensei Fnatic Limited Edition mouse carries its own embedded 32-bit ARM processor to double the mouse's sensitivity from between one to 5,700CPI to between 5701 and 11,400CPI.

PC gaming peripherals maker SteelSeries has teamed up with games developer Ignite Game Technologies to bring out the Simraceway SRW-S1 steering wheel controller, optimized for the game Simraceway. The wheel is unique, as it doesn't include pedals and is only ever handheld. The throttle and brake are located on paddles much like paddle shifters might, while a motion sensor controls the steering wheel angle.

MSI pushed deep into gaming notebooks Wednesday with two new higher-end systems. The GT683DXR and GT780DXR at 15.6 and 17.3 inches each both carry quad-core 2GHz Core i7 processors and newer GeForce GTX 570M graphics to handle modern games. As desktop replacements, they both have 2.1-channel Dynaudio speakers and twin hard drives in a RAID 0 stripe that boosts the disk performance.

MSI started the week by shipping two of its highest-end notebooks to the US. Steelseries has announced two new game-themed accessories, the Diablo III mouse and Diablo III headset. Game-specific design features include Diablo III artwork and "demon red" LEDs that can be set to pulse at different rates. On the practical side of things, they use double-braided nylon cord to reduce tangling and gold-plated connectors. The headset has 50mm drivers and a retractable boom mic. The ambidextrous mouse has seven programmable buttons and a CION laser sensor that can be set up to 5,000 CPI.

MSI chose Wednesday to bring out a unique notebook tailored just to serious gamers. Unlike the internally created keyboards on most notebooks, the 17.3-inch GX780 uses a special keyboard designed by game accessory maker SteelSeries. The layout is both more durable than most notebook keyboards but has had its keys optimized for gaming, such as enlarging the Alt and Ctrl keys as well as moving the Windows key to the right to avoid accidental hits.

Microsoft discontinues Sidewinder range again

After discontinuing its line of Sidewinder gaming peripherals in 2003 and then bringing it back in 2007, Microsoft has decided it will again axe the range, VR-Zone found. The move is believed to come as a result of added competition from dedicated brands such as Razer and SteelSeries as well as major but more universal companies, including Logitech. The software giant is also falling behind in releasing updated devices.

The 6Gv2 has 18-karat gold-plated mechanical switches for quicker response times than conventional keyboards as well as added durability. A buffer system is also built-in for supporting as many simultaneous key presses as there are keys.

Gaming peripheral maker SteelSeries has introduced a SteelSeries Adapter for mobile devices, which lets users plug in their existing two-plug headsets, gaming microphones or headphones into any device, mobile or otherwise, with a 3.5mm audio jack. SteelSeries says the adapter fully compatible with iPhones and 2nd-gen iPod touch devices. At the same time, SteelSeries released a limited edition Sudden Attack Ikari Laser Mouse and QcK Mass Mousepad.

Gaming peripheral maker SteelSeries on Friday announced it will soon release the SteelSeries Siberia v2 full-size headset. As the name implies, it will replace the Siberia headset released in 2004, with the main improvement being the retractable boom microphone that comes out of the left ear cup. This makes the headset more convenient to carry when travelling, as the microphone tucks out of the way and gives it the profile of regular headphones.

SteelSeries opted for the end of the week to reveal two multi-platform gaming mice as well as a special mousepad. At the top end, the Xai has an ambidextrous ergonomic grip the company claims took years of research to develop and an especially precise laser sensor that registers up to 5,000 CPI (counts per inch). It also has a unique OS-independent programmable seven-button scheme with an LCD on the underside and its own permanent memory to save custom settings without needing drivers.

Computer gaming peripherals maker SteelSeries has introduced two new World of Warcraft-edition products, the MMO Gaming Mouse and Zboard Limited Edition (Wrath of the Lich King, or WotLK) keyboard. The mouse can seemingly act as a keyboard replacement during gameplay, as it features 15 buttons that can be assigned to various shortcut operations in the game and reprogrammed again for everyday computing use. SteelSeries worked with World of Warcraft creators Blizzard Entertainment on both products, which are officially licensed. The mouse lights up in what SteelSeries claims is a choice of 16 million colors selectable by the user, and there are three intensity and pulsation level settings.

SteelSeries on Monday introduced its latest gaming product to the US market, the 7G keyboard. The company claims the mechanical 7G is 90 percent more responsive and 10 times more durable that regular keyboards, and eliminates anti-ghosting by supporting a key press command for every key. For low latency communication, the 7G features 18K gold-plated connectors. The 7G utilizes iron-infused plastic and gold-plated no-click switches, among other features, to endow it with a guarantee for 50 million keystrokes by its maker.
